Practical Test: Mobile Devices

The test method simulates a device like GSM phones. In this test scenario a mobile phone was put close to the cabling during data traffic. When the phone was used, the data transfer on all UTP systems stopped. All STP systems have shown no impact even though the phone was directly attached to the cabling system.
A subsequent practical test was carried out in order to find out whether or not the use of walkie-talkies in the 2 m and 70 cm band, mobile phones and GSM cards at a distance of 3 m to cabling had any effect on 10-Gigabit Ethernet data transmission. Pushing the push-to-talk switch or the call set-up impaired the data transmission of unscreened systems (systems 01 and 02) or even led to a complete breakdown.
