Practical Test: Fluorescent Lamps

A subsequent practical test was used to find out whether or not 10-Gigabit Ethernet data transmission is impacted by turning on fluorescent lamps installed at a distance of up to 0.5 m from the cabling system.

The turn-on transients impaired the data transmission of the two unscreened systems (system 01 and 02) and in some cases even caused a complete breakdown.
If the power cable was installed immediately next to the data transmission cables, every turn-on transient impacted the system even if the lamp was placed at a greater distance.
